2017 Kitingforkids and South Port kiteboarding team up to bring the 2017 BC Children's Hospital fundraiser. Port Alberni's awesome wind enthusiasts and community are really pulling together. This years events should be fun for all.

May 27TH The Great Foil Challenge
This event is open to all board styles but with a focus on the Foil boarding discipline. We will be running a circuit from the Centennial Pier harbor (near the Swept Away B&B) up to a Marker at Polly’s Point. How many laps can you do in two hours?
We are partnering up with Canal Beach Watersports ACDC Challenge to help provide great spectator entertainment during the afternoon.
June 17th Kiting in Costume
This two hour event is open to all capable riders with the encouragement to come out and kite in costume (family appropriate) for the day. Girl on a Board kiteboarding School will also be at the dock offering 15min Trainer kite lessons for donations during the afternoon.
We are Partnering up with the Port Authority for their Port family Days Celebration. This day falls on the Solstice as well and there are evening events planned by a summer’s art group.
July 1st Big Air and Freestyle Extravaganza
This two hour event is open to all capable riders to come and throw down their best moves and big air in a friendly competitive atmosphere for all spectators to enjoy at the centennial Pier. We are holding this event during the Triconic Challenge and Okie Dookie Ball Tournament so it is going to be a very busy weekend with tons of people around.
Our fundraising format is as follows
• Registered Riders (via email) to gather pledges for their sponsored participation
• Fundraising Kettles will be at event site for Spectators and By passers to donate
• Raffle of items donated by corporate or private sponsors

Donors/Sponsors: Please insure when filling our your donation information under the additional information box please indicate if you are sponsoring someone and if so who and whether you wish to be entered into the raffle if you qualify.
Aside from the kettles all fundraising donations will be done through the children’s hospital online donation page provided by the Children’s hospital Foundation. This will allow us 100% transparency and 100% proceeds to the foundation. It will also allow easy access to those donating to get a tax receipt. As the last benefit, we are able to track all donations to be able to identify pledges made for individual riders and their amounts.
Each event to be held on a day other activities are occurring to provide alternate entertainment should wind not cooperate. In the event we have a no wind day that event will be forwarded to the next event day and we’ll be creative to make it work. Should it not be windy on our final day we may consider holding over till the Sunday if the forecast looks promising. we do not plan on extending any events past the Canada Day weekend.
We will require all riders to sign a waiver of responsibility to participate.
We have additional liability coverage for spectators provided by three insurance agency sponsors which will be identified on the web page.
